The Zombie creation myth as told by the Zombie high preist

Here is the first story from the world I am creating for the novel I'm writing. Let me know what you think about it.
This story concerns the neo-zombie creation myth in my world of imaginings. The zombies are living in a post apocalyptic world and they have managed to reproduce, as they had been reduced to their base instincts: eat, sleep, reproduce. Due to the sped up metabolism that they live with, they grow quickly and live for only a few years. So many generations of zombies have been born and died during the events leading up to the main story of the novel and they have evolved into a tribal hunter gatherer society and have regained a degree of the intelligence the 'survivors' (who live within the walls of The City) possess. Though the 'survivors' live a meager existence that is highly controlled and regulated.

The Music Box or how we were saved from The Curse

For many years we suffered from The Curse. Feasting on whatever flesh we could find. The god of the old world having inflicted us as punishment for the pleasure-seeking lifestyle that we had been living. The goddess Kore, saw the deep unhappiness within us. For we were unable to change our nature, we did not know how. She took pity on us; Kore began to secretly place the Sacred Items around the land in hope of reminding us of our past. In doing so break The Curse forever. The god of the old world was unaware of her doings. He was too occupied behind the walls of The Great Walled Fortress to bother with those he had forsaken.
The first sacred item to be discovered was a music box. While still in the deep unknowingness of The Curse, the Zombie known as Krakingbone walked into one of the ancient buildings in search of some young animal that he could feast on. He walked through the building but found nothing. He was about to leave the building when he bumped a music box from a shelf. It fell to the ground and fell open. It began to play its music and slowly but surely The Curse placed on Krakingbone began to lift. He began to gain awareness of his surroundings as if a great cloud was being lifted from his mind. Having never experienced this before he became scared. Having never felt scared before he became confused. Having never felt confused before he became angry, he didn’t know what was happening to him.
Krakingbone became aware of the continuous melodic sound. He began to seek out the source of the noise. He found the music box and picked it up. Krakingbone was about to smash the source of his anger, when he realized that somewhere deep inside him that the noise coming from the music box made him feel good. In fact it made him feel happy, just like when he had caught a young animal and was feasting on its entrails while it cried out in pain in its last few moments of life. From that same place deep inside of Krakingbone he began to realize the sound of the young animal was not as beautiful as the sound coming from the music box. In fact compared to the music of the music box the sound of a young animal dying was horrible. In that moment Krakingbone realized that to kill and feast on anything that way was wrong. He had the urge to stop his fellow Zombies from killing and feasting this way. He was ashamed of himself and ashamed for his fellow Zombies. He decided that it was his purpose to tell his fellow Zombies of his discovery. So he walked out into the world with the music box in hand to deliver us from The Curse. And so it was that we began to rediscover our past and broke The Curse and we began our long journey to regain the knowledge that the god of the old world had stripped from us.
